Version 1.1
Last Updated: July 2026
Purpose of This Authorization
Certain charges relating to a Riddup reservation may not be known or capable of final calculation when a Guest completes checkout or returns the Vehicle.
This Post-Rental Payment Authorization explains how Riddup LLC ("Riddup") and its authorized payment processors may securely save and later charge the payment method provided by the Guest for valid post-rental obligations arising from the applicable reservation.
This authorization forms part of the Guest's reservation and should be read together with the:
- Rental Agreement
- Terms of Service
- Fee Disclosure
- Protection & Coverage
- Cancellation Policy
- Reservation Details
- applicable law
Guest Authorization
By expressly accepting this authorization during checkout, the Guest authorizes Riddup and its authorized payment processors to securely store the payment method used for the reservation for the limited purposes described on this page.
Riddup does not directly store the Guest's complete payment card information. Payment credentials may be securely stored and processed by Stripe or another authorized payment processor.
This authorization applies only to valid post-rental charges arising from the applicable reservation and authorized by:
- the Rental Agreement;
- Reservation Details;
- Fee Disclosure;
- this Authorization; or
- applicable law.
This authorization does not authorize Riddup to charge the payment method for unrelated reservations or purchases.
Charges Covered by This Authorization
Where applicable, valid post-rental charges may include:
- approved rental extensions;
- late return charges;
- tolls;
- parking charges;
- traffic citations or fines;
- fuel or battery charging shortages;
- refueling or charging service fees;
- excessive cleaning;
- smoke, vaping, odor, pet, or biohazard remediation;
- lost or damaged keys, remotes, charging equipment, documents, or accessories;
- Vehicle Damage;
- Mechanical Damage for which the Guest is responsible;
- towing;
- roadside assistance charges;
- locksmith services;
- storage charges;
- impound or recovery expenses;
- applicable insurance deductibles;
- reasonable documented Loss of Use, where permitted;
- Administrative Fees disclosed in the Fee Disclosure; and
- other charges expressly authorized under the Rental Agreement, Reservation Details, Fee Disclosure, or applicable law.
Riddup will not process charges prohibited by applicable law or unsupported by a reasonable factual basis.
Security Deposits
A Security Deposit or authorization hold is separate from this Post-Rental Payment Authorization.
Where permitted under the Rental Agreement, Riddup may first apply an available Security Deposit toward a valid post-rental obligation.
If:
- the Security Deposit is insufficient;
- the authorization hold has expired;
- the Security Deposit has already been released; or
- additional valid amounts remain due,
Riddup may charge the saved payment method pursuant to this authorization.
The amount of a Security Deposit does not necessarily represent the maximum amount the Guest may owe under the Rental Agreement.
When a Post-Rental Charge May Occur
Some charges may not become known until after the Vehicle has been returned.
Examples include:
- delayed toll records;
- traffic or parking citations;
- Damage identified during inspection;
- repair estimates or invoices;
- insurance deductibles;
- towing or storage invoices;
- cleaning assessments; or
- documented Loss of Use.
Riddup may process a valid post-rental charge after the amount has been reasonably determined in accordance with the Rental Agreement, Reservation Details, Fee Disclosure, and applicable law.
How Charges May Be Determined
Where applicable, post-rental charges may be supported by reasonably available evidence, including:
- Vehicle inspection records;
- timestamped photographs or videos;
- repair estimates or invoices;
- toll records;
- government notices;
- fuel or charging assessments;
- mileage records;
- telematics where disclosed;
- Vehicle Provider documentation;
- police reports;
- witness information;
- insurance determinations; or
- other operational records relating to the reservation.
The Guest acknowledges that this information may be used when evaluating Vehicle condition and post-rental obligations.
Notice of a Post-Rental Charge
When reasonably practicable, Riddup will notify the Guest before processing a valid post-rental charge.
The notice may include:
- the reason for the charge;
- the amount;
- supporting documentation, where available;
- instructions for contacting Riddup with questions or additional information.
Certain charges may be processed before advance notice when immediate payment is reasonably necessary, a governmental deadline applies, or applicable law permits.
Where advance notice is not reasonably practicable, Riddup may provide notice promptly after the charge is processed.
Guest Opportunity to Provide Information
Guests may contact Riddup regarding a proposed or completed post-rental charge.
Guests may provide information reasonably relevant to the charge, including:
- photographs;
- videos;
- receipts;
- police reports;
- witness information;
- insurance information; or
- other supporting documentation.
Riddup may review reasonably submitted information and, where appropriate, correct, reduce, reverse, or maintain a charge.
Providing additional information does not automatically suspend a valid payment obligation unless required by law or otherwise agreed by Riddup.
Payment Method Availability
The Guest agrees to maintain:
- a valid payment method;
- current billing information;
- a valid email address; and
- current contact information
until all obligations relating to the reservation have been resolved.
Expiration, cancellation, or replacement of the payment method does not eliminate a valid obligation arising from the reservation.
Where permitted by law, Riddup may request an updated payment method or another lawful form of payment.
Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Guests retain the right to dispute unauthorized, duplicate, inaccurate, or otherwise improper charges in good faith.
Before initiating a chargeback, Guests are encouraged to contact Riddup so the matter may be reviewed and, where appropriate, resolved.
Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute does not suspend the Guest's obligation to:
- cooperate with Riddup's claim investigation;
- provide reasonably requested documentation;
- preserve relevant evidence;
- cooperate with the Vehicle Provider or insurer; or
- comply with other obligations arising from the reservation.
Riddup may provide reservation records, accepted agreements, payment records, inspection documentation, communications, photographs, invoices, and other relevant evidence to the applicable payment processor, financial institution, insurer, or other authorized party.
Nothing in this authorization limits any rights the Guest may have under applicable law or applicable payment card network rules.
Duration of This Authorization
This authorization remains effective until all financial obligations arising from the applicable reservation have been resolved, subject to any rights the Guest may have under applicable law.
Revoking a saved payment method after the reservation does not eliminate valid obligations that arose before the revocation.
Relationship to Other Agreements
This authorization does not independently create a charge that is not otherwise valid.
A post-rental charge must arise under:
- the Rental Agreement;
- Reservation Details;
- Fee Disclosure;
- Protection & Coverage; or
- applicable law.
If there is a conflict:
- applicable law controls;
- the applicable insurance policy controls insurance matters;
- Reservation Details control transaction-specific information;
- the Rental Agreement controls rental obligations;
- the Fee Disclosure controls disclosed fees; and
- this Authorization governs the use of the saved payment method for valid post-rental charges.
